Erdberg Bus Station is the main international bus terminal in Vienna. Most buses connecting Vienna with other European capitals and major cities arrive to and depart from Erdberg Station. Erdberg Bus Station is located to the east from Vienna Inner City and quite far to walk for most people, but there is a metro station (named Erdberg) just across the street from the bus terminal. The U-Bahn (metro), which operates daily from about 5 am to short after midnight, takes you to the major sights in the city centre in a few minutes.
The area around Erdberg Bus Station is not the most typical place where tourists tend to stay in Vienna and there is only limited number of hotels available. Therefore it is highly recommended to book your accommodation in advance if you want to stay in Erdberg. On the other hand, hotel prices tend to be lower in Erdberg compared to the hotels in the centre. Among the best hotels close to Erdberg Station are Gartenhotel Gabriel City (with nice garden) and Actilingua Apartment Pension.

Though Erdberg is outside the Ringstrasse (which marks the border of Vienna’s Inner City), it is a good place to stay if you like art, parks, sport, nature, and shopping. Only a few minutes walk from Erdberg is Prater, the large green park (good for running), well known thanks to the amusement park situated at Prater’s north-west end.
Austria’s national football stadium (Ernst Happel) is also located near Erdberg. There is also a big shopping centre at the next U-Bahn station (5-10 minutes walk) from Erdberg (both the station and the shopping centre are called Gasometer).
Probably the best accommodation option for most people who want to stay outside the rush and noise of the city centre, but still within easy reach, is finding a hotel in the north-west end of Landstrasse, Vienna’s 3rd district. Here you can book accommodation near the famous Hundertwasserhaus or related art gallery Kunsthaus Wien, or a busy public transport hub Landstrasse/Wien-Mitte Station, which gives you easy access to all parts of Vienna, including the Inner City, United Nations district, or Vienna International Airport.
