Ringstrasse (Ring Street) is the circle street around Vienna Inner City (Innere Stadt). Burgring (Castle Ring) is a section of the Ringstrasse that passes by the Imperial Palace Hofburg, Burggarten, and Maria-Theresien-Platz, the square with Maria Theresa Monument and the twin museums (Naturhistorisches Museum and Kunsthistorisches Museum). Neighbouring sections of the Ringstrasse are Doktor-Karl-Renner-Ring (between the Austrian Parliament building and Volksgarten) and Opernring (near Vienna State Opera).
As you would expect given its immediate surroundings, Burgring is one of the most prestigeous addresses in Vienna. There are no hotels directly at Burgring (there is no space for them between all the museums and monuments), but you will find a lot of hotels in the nearby streets. Most hotels near Burgring are of course 4 star or 5 star hotels.
Burgring has outstanding public transport access. Trams operate frequently along the Ringstrasse and there also several U-Bahn (metro) stations very close to Burgring. You can find many hotels near each of these stations. If you walk some 5 minutes away from Burgring and the Imperial Palace, you will start seeing also some 3 star hotels and cheap hotels.
The two U-Bahn stations closest to Burgring, both with many hotels nearby, are Museumsquartier Station (behind the Museum of Art History) and Volkstheater Station (behind the Museum of Nature History).
Other stations, still within 10 minutes walk from Burgring, are Herrengasse Station (behind the Imperial Palace), Rathaus Station (behind Vienna City Hall), Karlsplatz Station (in front of Vienna State Opera).
Hotels in Vienna city centre are often fully booked long in advance. It is highly recommended to book accommodation early, especially if you are coming in the busy periods (such as summer or christmas) or you are less flexible with dates of stay in Vienna.
