The 14 highest peaks are located in either one of just two ranges – Hohe Tauern and Ötztal Alps. Only the 15th and 16th place are occupied by the highest mountains of Zillertal Alps and Stubai Alps, respectively. The dominant Bundesland in terms of concentration of the highest mountains is Tyrol.
